Information:  Founded in 1862 by Walter Balou and Roswell Blackinton, in Attleboro, Massachusetts.  Operated as R. Blackinton & Co. until 1967.  Worked primarily in silver and gold.

RAFAEL MELENDEZ

Hallmark(s):  "RM"
Information:  Rafael Melendez, of Taxco, Mexico, was one of the first employees of legendary silversmith, William Spratling.  He began working for Spratling in 1932.  In 1939, he opened his own shop:  Plateria Melendez.  Often worked in .980 silver.

Information:  Watch company that was founded in 1976 by Raymond Weil, in Geneva, Switzerland.  Produces wristwatches in steel and gold.

Information:  Founded in 1824 by Henry Reed & Charles Barton, in Taunton, Massachusetts.  Works primarily in sterling silver and silverplate.  Reed & Barton made silver for the White House, as well as the medals used in the 1996 Olympic Games held in Atlanta, Georgia.

Information:  Roderick and his wife, Marilyn Tenorio are both silversmiths from New Mexico.  Roderick is a prizewinning artist from Santo Domingo Pueblo while Marilyn is a Navajo artist that specializes in mosaic inlay, as well as gold and silver.

Information:  William Hazen Rogers and his two brothers, Asa and Simeon, began working in silver, in 1820, in Hartford, Connecticut.  In 1847, they began trademarking their electroplated silver pieces, which became extremely popular.  Worked primarily in coin silver, sterling silver, and silverplate.
