Bloodstone is an opaque, dark green variety of chalcedony with red spots.

Bloodstone is also known as heliotrope and blood jasper.

The red inclusions are due to iron oxide inclusions, specifically hematite.

Bloodstone was very popular in Victorian Era jewelry.
