The Edwardian Era was named after King Edward VII, whose reign lasted from 1901 to 1910. The strength of platinum was showcased as diamonds were set in airy, lace-like, openwork filigree settings. Millegrain (or milgrain) detailing was common, giving a soft, coin edge look to platinum pieces. Ribbons, bows, tassels and garlands were all popular motifs during the Edwardian jewelry period.
