This gorgeous birdie features natural rubies and diamonds set in solid 14 karat gold.
The brooch contains seventy-four (74) round brilliant cut natural diamonds. They average 1.30mm in diameter and total ≈ 3/4 carat.
The brooch also contains a total of forty-one (41) natural rubies. Thirty-six (36) are round, set amongst the breast and bird's eye, with the remaining five (5) being square step cuts, set along the tail feathers. Total gem weight of the rubies is ≈ 0.85 carat. These rubies have been routinely heated to improve their color, as have over 99% of all rubies in jewelry.
The bird measures 1 1/4" x 1 1/4".
It is fastened by a pin with round hinge and modern safety catch.
Its collapsible bail allows it to be worn as a pendant.
