Dennis Kalisteo Navajo Bear Belt Buckle
This magnificent, vintage belt buckle was handcrafted by Southwestern Navajo artisan, Dennis Kalisteo.
The buckle measures 3 3/4" x 2 7/8" and has a gross weight of 108.3 grams (3.5 troy ounces)!
The belt buckle features a 3-dimensional grizzly bear at the center of the piece.
The bear contains four (4) synthetic rubies totaling approximately 1.00 carat (2 in its eyes, 1 in its mouth, and 1 in its paw).
Set on either side of the bear are two (2) actual bear claws from a real bear!
Set beneath the bear is a natural elk's tooth!
There are thirteen (13) natural black onyx cabochons set along the border of the buckle, as well as atop the caps of the bear claws.
The buckle is embellished with 3-dimensional feather, bead and hogan (home) symbolism. A rope wire border frames the piece, with notched edges.
The reverse side of the buckle is signed, "DK", and has a hinged loop to accommodate up to a 2" wide belt.
