Scotland is home to many chalcedony and quartz deposits, including agate, jasper, bloodstone, onyx, and more.

Scottish agate jewelry gained popularity in the 1850s when Queen Victoria became infatuated with everything Scotland.

A large amount of "Scottish" jewelry was also produced in England.

Popularity of Scottish jewelry began to decline in 1901, after Queen Victoria's passing.
