MOURNING JEWELRY
Mourning jewelry's primary color is black, and is worn to mourn the loss of a loved one. Black enamel, jet, onyx, human hair, and glass were common materials used in in mourning jewelry. Mourning jewelry was popular during the Georgian era and gained popularity again during the Victorian era, after the death of Prince Albert, in 1861. Queen Victoria remained in mourning until her passing, in 1901. |
