MARGOT DE TAXCO

Hallmark(s):  "Margot de Taxco", Eagle 16 Pictomark & Eagle 1 Pictomark
Information:  Margot Van Voorhies Carr, better known as Margot de Taxco, moved to Taxco and married Antonio Castillo of Los Castillos.  She successfully designed many of their pieces until divorcing Castillo in 1948 and opening her own shop.  She had a number of silversmiths and enamelists employed, several of whom she gave permission to use her design blueprints after her death, in 1974.

MARIANNE BERG

Hallmark(s):  "M.B."
Information:  Marianne Berg is a jewelry designer who designed for Uni David-Andersen in the 1960s-'70s.  Her work featured geometric shapes.  Worked primarily in silver.

Hallmark(s):  "mH"
Information:  The Mark Henry Jewelry Company was founded in 1984 by Mois Medine, in New York, NY.  Specializes in alexandrite jewelry in gold and platinum.

MARKOWITSCH & SCHEID

Hallmark(s):  "M & S"
Information:  In 1858, Georg Adam Scheid moved to Vienna, Austria and began working at the shop of Michael Markowitsch.  In 1862, Scheid married one of Markowitsch's daughters and they renamed the company to Markowitsch & Scheid.  In 1882, they split and Scheid opened his own company which became very successful.  Markowitsch & Scheid then became Markowitsch & Son before ultimately closing in 1898.

MARY DUNHILL

Hallmark(s):  "Mary Dunhill"
Information:  Originally a hairdresser, Dunhill founded a perfume and cosmetic company in 1934.  She began producing perfume bottles and accessories, in brass and silver.

Information:  Merit Diamond Corporation was founded in 1981, in Hollywood, Florida.  Works primarily in gold and silver.
