This 1-of-a-kind, solid 14 karat gold, commemorative NYC Police badge represents a piece of American history!
The badge is a presentation piece given to Detective James M. Cashman, by the District Attorney’s Office of New York County, on his retirement in 1954.
It’s composed of solid 14 karat gold with blue enamel detailing. It’s rare that commemorative badges were presented in solid gold but Cashman wasn’t the average Police Officer. He was involved in bringing down infamous mob boss, Lucky Luciano. He was also involved in the Lindbergh Baby Trial and was present during the interrogation of Richard Hauptmann (the man who kidnapped the baby of famous aviator, Charles Lindbergh).
The reverse side of the badge is hand-engraved with the following: "Pres. to Det. James M. Cashman from D.A.O. Sq. N.Y. County Retired 4-30-54 14K".
