Master Gemologist Appraiser (MGA)
The Master Gemologist Appraiser (MGA) certification is one of the most respected in the gems and jewelry appraisal profession. In order to achieve this level of distinction, one must already be an Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA), complete advanced classes in gem and jewelry connoisseurship, pass a practical exam, submit proof of color vision testing, and ensure their lab meets the gemological equipment requirements, including a set of five (5) GIA or AGSL Master Color Grading Diamonds. A Master Gemologist Appraiser must complete a minimum of one hundred (100) continuing education hours every five (5) years.
Registered Master Valuer (RMV)
The Registered Master Valuer credential is a distinguished designation awarded by Master Valuer International, recognizing individuals who have achieved advanced expertise in gem and jewelry appraisal. This prestigious credential is awarded upon successful completion of the rigorous Master Valuer Program. Eligibility requires candidates to hold a gemological diploma from a recognized educational institution, ensuring a strong foundational knowledge in gemology prior to specializing in valuation.
